VERSATILE STUCCO SUITS OUR CALIFORNIA CLIMATE AND STYLE

What Is Stucco?

Stucco has been used as sculptural and artistic material for centuries, but modern architectural stucco is an exterior wall covering of cement plaster. It is usually a mix of sand, Portland cement, lime and water to which additives such as synthetic acrylics may be added to increase strength and flexibility. Traditionally stucco was applied in three coats, but stucco companies are increasingly using synthetic stucco that can be applied as one base layer plus a finish layer, which is thinner and quicker to apply. Stucco can be applied by hand or sprayed on to create different colors and textures.

STUCCO SIDING

Stucco siding is attractive and durable and requires little ongoing maintenance. If the surface becomes soiled, it can easily be washed down with a garden hose. Stucco can be applied directly over a wood frame, metal siding, brick and concrete primer and works particularly well for contemporary and Spanish style homes. Stucco finishes are water and weather resistant. To create architectural interest, stucco can be used alongside other exterior finishes.

COLOR ME BEAUTIFUL

Stucco offers the opportunity to make a statement with the color choice for your home. Stucco comes in many different shades and hues to compliment your personal style and can be customized to match any type of existing landscaping. Your stucco contractor can show you the color palette available and make suggestions based on experience of which colors work best together. The most popular colors are neutral and earthy tones. It is important to bear in mind that in Pasadena, the color of your home will be set against a blue background most of the year round. If you are considering a bold color choice, ask your Pasadena stucco contractor whether he has projects using that color that you are able to go and see. This will either confirm your choice or make you have a rethink. You will be living with this color for a long time, as will your neighbors, so make sure that you love it, it is complementary to the style of your home and fits into your neighborhood.
