Hide It and Block It

If you have ever done even the smallest painting job in your home, you will know that it takes almost as long to prep as it does to do the actual painting. There is nothing more frustrating or disappointing than putting in a great deal of effort, only to have nasty stains showing through or mildew forming in just a few months. Part of the skill of your painting contractor is knowing which primer is needed depending on the painting job.

STAINS AND MARKS

Stains have to be completely blocked out before you or your painting contractor begin applying top coats and color. Difficult stains to cover up include rust, grease, crayon and mildew. Kilz2 is an excellent primer for covering over such problems. It comes in an oil and a water based version. Several top painting contractors still prefer oil, but it has a strong odor and clean up is more difficult. Choose water based if you are living in the house while your painting contractor is working. Kilz2 Latex  is a fast drying water-based sealer that not only blocks stains but can also suppress odors such as cigarette smoke.

MAKE THAT MILDEW TAKE A HIKE

Kilz2 provides a mildew resistant coating and is a good choice for high moisture areas such as kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms.

MAKE THE PAINT STICK

Amateur painters compared to painting contractors often make the mistake of not understanding what paint will stick to and to what it will not.  Your painted surface may look good initially but the paint won’t last and will start to flake or peel in no time if the painted surface has not been primed properly. Kilz2 can be applied to brick, drywall, stucco, masonry plaster and wood as long as it is clean and dry.
