10 TOP DESIGN TRICKS TO MAKE A TINY BATHROOM APPEAR BIGGER

Watch Your Bathroom Grow

Wouldn’t we all just love a luxurious spa-like bathroom to relax and pamper ourselves in. The ideas in your imagination may not be doable in a small space. If you have the budget and footprint to extend the floorplan of your tiny bathroom, it may be worth considering. If however you are stuck with a cramped space, stop hating it and start loving it with these strategic home improvements.

You can implement many of these ideas yourself and if you are planning a bath remodel, you may want to find a Pasadena bathroom contractor or interior designer who has experience with small spaces.

1. SNOW WHITE

Nothing looks quite as fresh as white on white. White walls, white fixtures, white tiles, white towels. White reflects light and opens up the space making it feel more airy.

2. BEIGE ON BEIGE

If white is too clinical for your tastes, then beige may be a little softer.  If you have beige tiles already then paint the walls to match. If you want to use color then keep it light and keep the tones similar. Dark colors will make the room seem smaller.

3. TOWEL RACKS BEHIND THE DOOR

You want to maximize every bit of space and even towel racks on the wall can break up the space. Attach several towel racks to the inside of the door to keep them tidy and out of sight.

4. FLOAT YOUR VANITY

By lifting your vanity off the floor, with no legs, the floor plan will appear larger.

5. MIRROR, MIRROR ON THE WALL

The correct use of mirrors can literally double your space. Just remember to consider what you are reflecting. You don’t want to see  double junk and clutter!  Whether it’s a mirror on one wall or a full length one to add depth to a narrow room, a good Pasadena bathroom designer can advise you on what will work best in your space.

6. FROSTED GLASS

Assuming you have a window in your bathroom, you want to let in as much natural light as possible. Frosted glass will provide privacy without shutting out any light.

7. CLEAR GLASS

Clear glass, frameless shower doors will expand your space as they allow the eye to see through them to the outer edges of the room.

8. KEEP IT PETITE

Sometimes opting for a smaller, neater vanity with dainty faucets can make a huge difference and is more in proportion to the space.

9. BUMP UP THE TILE SIZE

One of the current bathroom trends is to choose larger tiles and these work so much better in a tiny bathroom that smaller subway tiles. The more grout lines there are, the more it breaks up the visual lines. Use the same tile throughout.

10. BE RUTHLESS WITH CLUTTER

Yes - ruthless. It is essential that you keep the surfaces clear. If you cannot keep everything out of sight, reassess how much you really need. Something has to go.
