PLANNING IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF YOUR KITCHEN REMODEL

Only Fools Rush In

Elvis knew didn’t he.

“ Wise men say only fools rush in

But I can’t help falling in love with…………….my new kitchen renovation!

Well you certainly want to fall truly, madly, deeply in love with your new kitchen once you have spent both time and money creating it. To make sure you don’t spend more money than is necessary and to make sure your kitchen remodel is finished on schedule, invest time and energy in the planning stage.

DON’T CONFUSE PLANNING WITH DAYDREAMING

Daydream all you want. In fact, it is an imperative part of the process. And it’s fun. Even if you imagine a kitchen that is way beyond your actual budget, a good Pasadena interior designer can help you create a similar look for less. Equally he or she will tell you if it is not possible within your budget. The fantasizing part will help clarify your ideas about what you really want.

CREATE VISUALS

For a job as expensive and large as a full kitchen renovation, I think it is important to use a designer. It is the best way to make sure you love the end product. But before you go to a designer, have a vision in your mind. Create a collage of kitchen pictures that you love. This will be the quickest way for a designer to get on the same page as you.

LIST THE ESSENTIALS

The reason you are remodeling is because there are things you don’t like in your old kitchen. Look carefully around your kitchen. Is there anything that can be repurposed?  What are the things you absolutely hate? What things that aren’t there are your heart’s desire?  Create lists and prioritize. While in theory you may want to redo everything, once you assess your budget you may have to compromise.

CREATE A DETAILED BUDGET

The last thing you want is to be stressed about money at the end of the project. That is the time to pop the champagne and enjoy. Create a detailed budget of what you can afford and add 20% for contingency.

STICK TO THE PLAN

Once the plan has been set in motion, the kitchen designed and the best Pasadena kitchen contractor booked, then try and stick with it. Every change you make midway through the renovation is going to cost you money. A stitch in time saves nine - more effort expended sooner to fix any problems prevents them from becoming big ones.
